The US EPA issued on 18 September a notice of violation of emissions limits against Volkswagen due to a variety of models of diesel car emitting up to 40 times more pollution than emission standards allow. Volkswagen has admitted having fixed the tests for diesel emissions levels in the US market through "defeat devices" that cheat the emissions test for nitrogen oxides. ENVI, IMCO, ITRE and TRAN jointly draft an OQ to the EC to assess whether European testing regimes have also been affected.
