The study, coordinated by the Parliament's EAVA unit, set out to provide an overview of the sharing economy model in the EU, its economic potential and the main challenges to be addressed in order to promote a flexible environment for innovation whilst at the same time ensuring adequate levels of protection.
It was conducted in two parts - the first part focusses on the economic potential and the cost of non-Europe and was conducted by Europe Economics. The second part - conducted by EIPA - provides an analysis of the existing EU framework and its effectiveness in promoting and overseeing this emerging new business model.
This study intends to provide input to IMCO Members in the context of the preparations ofthe INI report on the Single Market Strategy.
