Highlights - Exchange of views on the Control of the acquisition and possession of weapons - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

On 23 February, Members will exchange views on the Control of the acquisition and possession of weapons (Firearms Directive). The objective of the directive is to prevent discrimination by Member States against the licit possession of firearms and to ensure the free movement of firearms through common Union rules on their acquisition and possession. It is hence a free movement instrument on harmonization of rules for the establishment and functioning of the internal market.
