The Rapporteur presented her report and the 86 amendments she tabled to the EC legislative proposal, including: reintroduction of category A.7 semi-automatics firearms as proposed by the Commission back to category B in Annex I of the Directive; adaptation of the definitions of "firearm" and of "essential components" in that any device which shares an essential component with a firearm is by definition a firearm; distinction amongst blank-firing weapons, signal/alarm weapons and replicas,
whereas any firearm which has been converted tofiring blanks remains in its original category; reintroduction of the Article 6MS exception for category A authorisations while defining stricter conditionsfor authorisations for historical purposes including storage requirements;revision of the medical test provisions as proposed by the Commission in orderto reflect different best practices in the Member States; introduction ofprovisions for suspicious ammunition purchases; changes with respect to thesystems of exchange of information between MS; indication of concerns raised bysome experts as regards to the Deactivation Regulation; introduction ofadditional safeguards for online sales.
