The draft report on a longer lifetime for products: benefits for consumers and companies was adopted by 34-0-1. Among the main elements of the adopted text are measures that make the choice of repair of goods attractive to the consumer, the development of the standardisation of spare parts and tools necessary for repair, the support to repairs and second-hand sales, the consideration of a voluntary European label on product's durability, better information of consumers on product durability and
the proposal of a definition of planned obsolescence at EU level for tangible goods and software.
