The Single Digital Gateway aims to extend and integrate both national/European portals with a view to create a user-friendly information system. The intention is to allow citizens and businesses to access and carry out administrative procedures online allowing to use the advantages of the single market in an easier way, which is less time-consuming and less expensive. A centralised access to all information necessary for those who want to use their rights to mobility in the EU will be provided.
The obligation will be imposed on Member States to create full online access to the most important and most often used procedures. This new user-centric framework is expected to create substantial advantages for SMEs and start-ups. The comprehensive move to online procedures is destined to modernise public administration and to make it more cost effective. Members will consider the IMCO draft report on 21 November PM.
