Highlights - Motor insurance directive - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

On 21 November, IMCO discussed the draft report on the proposal amending the Motor Insurance Directive 2009/103/EC. The rapporteur explained her approach regarding the scope of the Directive (exclusion of eBikes, electric scooters etc and motor sports) and the checks on uninsured driving, where she suggested to make use of the Eucaris application for the exchange of data. She also addressed the issue of insurer insolvency, in both domestic and cross-border cases,

and how to enhance claims-history statements, issued by insurance undertakings. The shadows rapporteurs who intervened mostly concentrated on the scope of the Directive, primarily in relation to eBikes and motor sports. The deadline for tabling amendments is on 27 November noon.
