Parliament will discuss on 27 March on the provisional inter-institutional agreement on the proposed regulation on Laying down rules on the making available on the market of CE marked fertilising products. The vote will take place on 28 March 2019.
The key terms of the agreement are a single limit for cadmium in phosphate fertilisers, which is set at 60 mg/kg, with the Commission to review this value four years after the date of application of the Regulation.
The co-legislators also agreed a voluntary labelling system for low-cadmium fertilisers, as well as a regulatory regime for the use of industry by-products as input into fertilising products. The legislation is a key piece of the circular economy.
