Highlights - Extraordinary joint meeting IMCO-ITRE - 19 February 2020 - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

Mr Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market, presented the digital package that had been adopted by the Commission the same day. It consists of an overarching communication 'Shaping Europe's digital future', a communication on a European strategy for data and a white paper on artificial intelligence. Further legislative proposals in these areas can be expected for the second half of 2020 and the remainder of this term, given the importance given by the new Commission to digital policy.

The meeting was very well attended by Members from both committees.
