Highlights - Exchange of views with Margrethe Vestager on Europe's response to COVID-19 - 4 May - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

Members will exchange views with Margrethe Vestager, Commission Executive Vice-President, on the Europe’s response to the COVID-19 crisis, especially in the area of digital policy, and the impact of the crisis on the EC’s Work Programme. In its letter of 23 March, addressed to her and Commissioner colleagues, IMCO already stressed the importance of monitoring EU rules on e-commerce and online platforms, of tackling disinformation, and of looking to innovative technologies as part of the response

The European Parliament resolution of 17 April on EU coordinated action to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, stressed that the EU's recovery and reconstruction package should have at its core the European Green Deal and the digital transformation in order to kick-start the economy, improve its resilience and create jobs.
