The Council adopted their first reading position on 1 March on the Customs programme for cooperation in the field of customs. The Programme belongs to the family of MFF sectoral proposals, and has the main objective to fund actions aimed at strengthening the Customs Union. The position of the Council reflects the outcome of the interinstitutional negotiations as endorsed in IMCO on 11 January (Rapporteur Maria GRAPINI (S&D)).
The draft recommendation for the second reading position of the Parliament as voted in IMCO on 8 March recommends to approve the Council position, thereby closing the negotiations and allowing to move to the final adoption of the regulation.
