The special committee on foreign interference (INGE) is organising a public hearing on "Interference through advertisements", which will focus on online ad-funded disinformation and monetisation strategies used by disinformation actors, as well as on Google Ads policy.
Given the nature of the topic, the hearing will be held in association with IMCO. The following high-level experts have confirmed their participation: Ms Nandini Jammi (Co-Founder of Sleeping Giant and of Check My Ads), Ms Clare Melford (Co-Founder and Executive Director of Global Disinformation Index) and Ms Ghita Harris-Newton (Director of Google Ads). IMCO Members will have the possibility to take the floor during the hearing, given that the DSA and the DMA cover online advertising, algorithmic processes and risk mitigation. The hearing will take place on Tuesday 13 April 2021, 16.15 - 18.15. The meeting may be followed via webstreaming on EP Live.
