Highlights - Consumer protection and automated decision-making tools in a modern economy - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

On 27 September 2021, IMCO will organise a public hearing on "Consumer protection and automated decision-making tools in a modern economy". During two panels the Members will discuss the main challenges stemming from automated decision-making tools, and listen to major players, consumer organisations and experts. In the first panel, representatives of consumer associations, business and certification bodies will present their views on the safeguards to protect consumers from services carried out without human oversight or smart products, including the use of certification and standardisation for these tools. During the second panel, experts from the industry and academia will address how automated decision-making tools can improve quality and quantity of information to consumers.
