On 27 September, the IMCO committee will consider the amendments to Mr Kosma Złotowski’s (ECR) draft own initiative report on Tackling non-tariff and non-tax barriers in the Single Market.
Members tabled 218 amendments to the draft report, stressing the vital importance of the single market for the Union and pointing out to persistent non-tariff barriers - a situation, which has deteriorated in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. In their amendments Members are calling for better and more unified transposition of EU law, monitoring of national rules, stronger enforcement of existing rules and measures. They also highlight the issue of inclusion of territorial supply constraints and the need for further digitalisation of public services, which will help eliminate a number of still existing barriers hampering the potential of European businesses operating cross-border.
