Highlights - Parliament approves Mr Mimica as Commissioner for Consumer Policy - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

565 votes in favour, 64 against and 64 abstentions: the European Parliament has adopted a decision approving the appointment of Mr Mimica as Commissioner responsible for Consumer Policy. It is now up to the Council of the European Union to appoint Mr Mimica formally by qualified majority for the remainder of the Commission's term of office, until 31.10.14.
