IIt's often cheaper and easier for consumers to buy a new product than to repair it or replace some of its parts. There is little incentive to prolong the life of a product through repair, nor to re-use or recycle it. IMCO Members adopted the draft report on A longer lifetime for products: benefits for consumers and companies by 34 votes in favour, 0 against and 1 abstention.
