Highlights - Weapons acquisition and possession: public hearing on 15 March - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection

Chaired by Ms Ford in her capacity as Rapporteur, the Committee held a very well-attended and lively hearing on the Commission's proposal to amend the 1991 Directive on control of the acquisition and possession of weapons. Main items raised by Members included traceability, exchange of information, museums and collectors, convertibility of firearms and their deactivation, marking, demilitarisation, certain semi-automatic firearms and online sales.
