Completing the digital single market
The IMCO Working Group on the Digital Single Market restarts its activities with a first inaugural meeting of its Fourth period of sessions taking place on 2 March 2015. Ms Róża Thun Und Hohenstein MEP will be the new Chair, succeeding former MEP Mr Pablo Arias Echeverría, who chaired in the last mandate.

Completing the digital single market
The Working Group (WG) on the Digital Single Market (DSM) had his second meeting of its 4th period of sessions on 14April at 15.00. Created in 2011, the WG on DSM led to the adoption of a number of parliamentary resolutions and has become a key platform for in-depth discussion where EP Members, EC, stakeholders and experts exchange views,identify new opportunities/challenges, remaining barriers and propose concrete measures to make the DSM in the EU a reality.

EEA-Switzerland: obstacles with regard to the full implementaiton of the internal market
The Rapporteur will present his own-INI Report focusing on the implementation deficit of the three EEA EFTA States (Iceland,Norway, Liechtenstein), the relations with Andorra, Monaco and San Marino, and the relations with Switzerland in light of the vote on the popular initiative"Against Mass Immigration" and the request by the Swiss Authorities to renegotiate the Free Movement of Persons Agreement (FMPA) with a view to introduce quota or national preference. A hearing is planned on 7 May.

Legislative Scrutiny time in IMCO
IMCO will hold its first dedicated session on"Legislative scrutiny" on 23 April. The new Public Procurement Directives will be the first topic of this session. DG GROW will answer relevant questions of Members.
The second topic of this legislative scrutiny session will be the creation of the ODR platform, in implementation of Regulation 2013/524 on online dispute resolution for consumer disputes (ODR Regulation). The Commission services will give a short state-of-play of the platform.

In anticipation of the publication of the strategy on the Digital Single Market ( 6 May), the meeting with European Commission Vice President Andrus Ansip will offer an opportunity for an exchange of views on this subject.  Three main announced pillars of the strategy could form a basis of the discussion: better access for consumers and businesses to digital goods and services, shaping environment for the digital networks and services and creation of European digital economy and society.

Votes in IMCO Committee
On 23 April IMCO Committee will vote on the 229amendments tabled to the draft report on Appliances burning gaseous fuels. The intention of the regulation is to update and clarify sector specific definitions and the relationship with other EU harmonisation legislation. They will also vote on the 370 amendments tabled to the draft report on Personal protective equipment. The final report will seek to improve the scope, the validity period of EU type approval and the declaration of conformity.
